Team Leader of Information and Referral

Rupert Gerritsen is a mystery man: on the surface he appears as an intellectual, a funny and caring guy. Yet Rupert has a colourful past, a past that would surprise you all!

Rupert believes and lives by his morals and values, he has and continues to lead an exciting life—with no regrets. Many of us look up to Rupert, he’s an inspiration and a truly unique character.

Having spent many years in the community sector, forming not-for-profit organisations, developing life changing programs and working with youth and Aboriginal people, Rupert is today a very modest man:
he continues to bring a wealth of experience to the Foundation.

I asked Rupert a few other questions:

How long have you been working with the Foundation?
11 years, as of last Sunday (19/8/07)

Tell me about your work...
I work—as Team Leader—within the Community Information and Education Team. Our area provides information to new and existing mental health consumers. Our team is committed to the needs of the individual, by delivering consumer friendly services.

Where were you born?
I was born in Geraldton, Western Australia. My parents were Dutch migrants and like most other migrants worked hard to provide us with all that they could.

What are your interests?
I enjoy researching and writing books, particularly on Australia’s early history.

Your favourite saying...
Life is like a lost sock in the Laundromat.
